  • Abstract
    The paper presents a hybrid methodology for modelling electroabsorption modulators. The method uses the time domain transmission line modelling method and a novel time-domain spectral index method to simultaneously model propagation of the microwave and optical fields. The method is applied to the practical case of a lumped electroabsorption modulator and parameters such are chirp and extinction ratio are analysed.
