Abstract :
This paper is devoted to the investigation and application of thermo-photo-elasticity phenomenon on the example of fused quartz, in which anisotropy of dielectric properties under a temperature gradient appears. In consideration of fact that the most of all physical effects, which have directed character, lead to a symmetry reduction of the crystal lattice, the phenomenon of photo-elasticity is manifested in a variety of effects. The most common of them and therefore the most studied is the photo-elastic effect (Brewster effect), whose point is the induced uniaxial deformation of the linear birefringence in crystals and composite materials. This effect was used in this paper. It is presented possibilities and perspectives of modulation polarization spectroscopy in micro-, nanoelectronics and optics as well.
