Abstract :
Electromagnetic forces represent a very important topic in the overall design and construction of synchronous generators. Mainly electromagnetic forces govern the mechanical behaviour of the Roebel bars utilized in the stator slots of these machines. The interaction of the electromagnetic forces and the mechanical forces additionally applied for the necessary rigid fixing during assembly produces a fully coupled electromagnetic mechanical problem. The required minimum of the radial slot wedge fixing in dependence of multiple rated bar currents are obtained from this investigation.
