Abstract
Magnetic aspects of segmented core brushless permanent magnet motors have been analyzed in this paper. Due to the segmented stator structure, magnetic flux leakages through the tooth-tips become considerable in such a motor. A leakage parameter alpha is developed here to show the effect of tooth-tip flux leakage that is essential in accurately predicting the air gap flux density in the motor
