Abstract :
Raod users in the traffic world make up a system of autonomous acting agents. Understanding and describing the phenomena of the traffic world raises questions in the field of distributed artificial intelligence. The authors implemented the traffic simulation environment ISYS to develop and test strategies and concepts for driver models and innovative driver assistant systems. The simulation environment provides a framework to model/construct autonomous agents individually and with models of different granularity. It integrates knowledge-based techniques with numerical methods for simulation of vehicle dynamics. An application example demonstrates the interactions among different agents simulated with ISYS
