  • Abstract
Manufacturing fashion products enormously discharge industrial waste due to the high ratio of inventory turnover, constant change in trend, small quantity batch production, and so on. With understanding of the important association between design and environment, researches on sustainable design such as eco-design, environmental design, and green design are getting more highlighted. Given that circumstances, green design of female handbag is discussed in this study. As a methodology, it is done to refer to literatures on trends of green fashion design and purses, and as a result, it is found that green qualities of the fashion products are prominently embedded in materials and design. For the material for green design, leather, the primary material of purse, is used. In the manufacturing process, tannin extracted from vegetables is chosen to reduce environmental pollution. For the design, convertible purses based on simple and multi-functional design was tried. It was shown that a variety of application would make it possible to develop more other design.
