Abstract :
In this paper is presented a microcontroller based system that is capable to remotely control the information presented on an LCD having relatively small dimensions. The application for this system is in the field of electronic labeling of the products. The system is composed by two electronic modules, a receiver that contain the alphanumeric LCD unit, and a transmitter connected to a computer through the RS232 interface. This two modules communicates through radio, using a center frequency of 433,9 MHz. A software application was created in order to emulate a data base that contains information that will be periodically transmitted by a computer to the LCD placed remotely. The advantage of the proposed system is represented by the possibility to continuously control and modify from distance the data presented on an LCD. This approach makes the management of electronic labeling of the products form a certain presentation area more efficient and easier. The novel implementation of the radio system, using PIC 16F648A and PIC 12F675 microcontrollers and Aurel radio modules represent another advantage. Due to the use of microcontrollers and compact radio modules the whole dimensions of the system is reduced. Also, the obtained system is scalable been possible to increase the number of LCD modules that are remotely controlled.
