Abstract
The paper deals with a new disk type coreless PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor), consisting of only stator winding and twin rotor system a double sided rotor with internal stator. To obtain required value of the magnetic flux density in the air gap, PMs have been arranged in "Halbach array". At the same time, to make the magnetic flux density wave going closer to sine wave, the design criteria for the arrangement and dimension of the PMs is developed. The FEM analysis has been done to prove that the arrangement of the twin rotor PMs into 45deg Halbach array is more suitable to this motor than 90deg and 60deg. The peak value of the magnetic flux density can exceed 0.56 T. This is a sufficient value to design a high power density machine
