Abstract
Summary form only given. We show that even isotropic achiral surfaces can exhibit optical activity effects in a two-beam SHG experiment. In addition, we show for the first time that circularly polarized light can be used to break the reflection symmetry of the experimental geometry. The beam of an Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) was split into two fundamental beams that were incident on an achiral isotropic thin film.
