Abstract :
In this paper, a novel stator hybrid excited doubly salient (HEDS) machine is proposed, which combines the advantages of PM machines with the possibility of controllable magnetic flux by auxiliary dc excited windings. The influence of end-leakage effect on the back-EMF waveforms is taken into account. The electromagnetic performances are predicted and compared with 2-D and 3-D finite element analyses (FEA), and an end-leakage factor for end-effect is defined to modify the 2-D predicted result. Finally, experimental results are given to verify the accuracy of the prediction
