Abstract :
We propose a fault tolerant multistage interconnection network (MIN) design that utilises load sharing amongst multiple buffered banyan switch planes, which provides excellent performance and good reliability allows on-line repair and easy maintenance, and offers an easy and effective way to implement priority traffic transmission. Our simulations clearly show that replicated load sharing shared buffered banyan networks have better performance than shared buffered banyan networks employing speedup. Analytical reliability results without repair for these systems are compared to those of an augmented delta network using speedup. The steady state equations to calculate the availability, mean time to failure (MTTF), and mean time to repair (MTTR) of these systems is also presented
