Abstract
The article reports on two important aspects of research into developing a computer assisted surgical planning and simulation environment. The goal of this research is to provide assistance to surgeons by developing interactive three dimensional dynamic models of the anatomy from clinical data sets. In this environment, it will be possible to plan and perform a variety of surgical procedures and then review and select the most efficient and safe plan. Future work and directions on this topic are indicated
