Abstract :
In this work, we present a study about the sensibility of a suitable ECT (eddy current testing) system used for the prediction of depth and thickness of inner growing defects in metallic plates. By finite element numerical simulations in time domain of the detection system we have applied a deterministic method to predict the values of depth and thickness of inner cracks. The usefulness of this procedure has been confirmed for regular cylindrical holes, but also for rectangular slots and conical holes
