Abstract
This paper proposes a needed evolution in automated satellite testing for both government and commercial mission applications. Roles and contributions by the U.S. government, commercial satellite services, the satellite manufacturers, and the automated test industry are discussed. Specific areas with identifiable return on investment are presented as a starting point on a long term path for applying current industrial automation to the satellite test sector.
