Abstract
A novel approach to the calculation of the extinction cross-sections of resonant metallic nanoparticles subject to optical radiation is presented. This approach is based on the boundary integral equation technique and makes extensive use of the optical theorem. The good agreement between the computational results for the extinction cross-sections of spherical resonant metallic nanoparticles and the Mie theory is demonstrated
