The application of project based learning in the teaching of Instructional System Design

Abstract :
In this study, project based learning was introduced into the course of Instructional System Design, and corresponding teaching experiments were designed and implemented. 33 educational technology majors, undergraduates of grade 2008, from Ning Bo university participated in the teaching experiment and were divided into 10 project groups: firstly, each group determined their project subject through consultation; then, they carried out the design and development of the project by using instructional design models, and finally, produced their own teaching products. Case analysis and survey showed that PBL can cultivate students´ ability in solving practical problems with systematic methods and arouse their enthusiasm and motivation. However, some students have reflected that their acquisition of theoretical knowledge seems disorganized.
