  • Abstract
To enable students to better participate in the entire process of inquiry learning, a kind of wireless sensor network supported inquiry-based learning system is introduced in this paper. It consists of three parts: infrastructure which contains wireless sensor network nodes and GPRS network, educational gateway middleware, and inetactive application software. As the core component of the system, the gateway middleware enables all kinds of inetactive application software to access wireless senseor network easily. The key technology to the gateway middleware implementing includes database virtualization, user-defined data conversion and automatic data filtering. In order to help students to study the climate change of the National Stadium in Beijing, the system has been deployed there, monitoring the temperature and humidity of the air and the temperature of the soil.
