  • Abstract
Quasistatic approach provides intermediate level of electromagnetic theory in between statics and the full set of Maxwell equations. This approach is introduced in the electrical engineering undergraduate courses due to its pedagogical significance. In standard textbooks, quasistatic approach refers to a regime where the system size is small with respect to the electromagnetic wavelength associated with the dominant sources. However, graduate students often find confusing issues concerning the applicability of this approach, especially in cases dealing with sources at medium-high frequencies and well removed from lossy or dissipative media. From an practical application example, a complementary perspective of classical quasistatic approach is proposed in this paper. This development was applied as rigorous justification of using quasistatic approach in some Ph.D. dissertations and it can also complement the contents appearing in textbooks used in electromagnetics teaching in postgraduate level courses.
