Abstract
This invited paper addresses the state of the art of Digital Holographic Interferometry (DHI) with a discussion on its underlying optical mechanisms. Additionally, some useful results are presented on its application to solve a variety of biomedical related problems. The paper concludes with a few ideas that propose future applications and further development of the method.
