Abstract :
The LC resonance in the traditional passive quasi resonant soft switched Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS)-SEPIC converter, together with the adoption of pulse frequency modulation leads to the complex control and high electrical stress of its electronic components. In order to resolve this issue, the use of an active clamped topology for the ZVS-SEPIC is proposed. With this technique, the resonant effect on the converter is reduced due to the use of an auxiliary switch and the adoption of pulse width modulation. In addition to this, the converter becomes more efficient as the main and auxiliary switches can be set to ZVS. This paper analyses the principle of this theory and the design of the LC resonant circuit.
