Abstract :
DSL technology cannot handle the distortions of the medium by a total equalisation of the channel. The modulation techniques, such as the CAP and DMT, show their effectiveness for handling this problem. ADSL G.DMT, a popular variant of DSL, is seen to impose DMT. The presentation of functioning of the DMT will clarify its problematic intersymbol interference which leads to the use of an equaliser named TEQ (time domain equaliser) in this technology. In this article, the equalisation methods MMSE, MSSNR, MGSNR, MRB and Min-ISI are comparatively analysed from the point of view of performance characteristics of DSL.
