Abstract :
A via-fed monopole UWB antenna prototype is proposed in this paper. The radiator and ground are in the same plane and the radiator is connected to the microstrip on the back. The via can be viewed as a lowpass filter and the impedance bandwidth of the antenna can be controlled by adjusting the radius of the via. By extending the feed and slitting a slot in the radiator, another UWB antenna with a notched band of 3.3-3.6 GHz is achieved. The via and the extended feed can be viewed as a shunt LC-resonator and the resonant frequency can be controlled by adjusting the size of the slot. Simulated and measured results show that the antenna has stable radiation pattern and high antenna gain.
