Abstract :
An array-fed offset reflector antenna is used to provide shaped hemispheric and zonal coverage for the INTELSAT V communications satellite. The objectives of frequency reuse via both sidelobe isolation and cross-polarization isolation and efficient beam shaping are accomplished by optimizing feeding coefficients and minimizing the circular cross-polarization of the square waveguide feed-array cluster. Corroborating measurements on the performance parameters, such as minimum coverage gain, maximum coverage gain variation, and side lobe and cross-polarization isolation, are presented.
