Abstract
This study designs and proposes a blog-based interactive patientcare system, called BiPS. BiPS provides omni-bearing patient services. It assists families, doctors and nurses to care patient´s physiological information using healthcare sensors and to monitor patient´s behaviors using the monitoring-based services. BiPS is a three-tier architecture that is composed of BiPS clients, the Web2.0-based service platform (WSP), and the HL7-based medical database (HMD). Users can interact with BiPS using heterogeneous appliances and get related latest physiological and monitoring information using our proposed application layer somecast (ALS) service. The WSP provides Web2.0-based applications, including blog-based templates and interfaces, monitoring-based RSS services, interaction services, and ALS services. The HMD provides well-designed triggers and a database, including clinical information, physiological information, DICOM image files and monitoring frames. All of the delivered messages are XML-based using the HL7 protocol. The proposed BiPS can support medical information services and can be compatible with related medical information systems.
