As a couple of important teaching strategies, real-time assessment and timely feedback play a positive role in promoting students´ skills acquisition. They provide a good foundation for students´ problem-solving and knowledge transfer by pointing out students´ error operation and supplying guidance and reference timely. Based on these teaching strategies, the author proposes an effective way for students to acquire skills in virtual learning environment, and verifies the validity of iTutor-a skills training tutor system, which uses formative assessment and interactive feedback to help students to learn. According to the data we can draw a conclusion that iTutor could win better learning effect compared to traditional approach. iTutor is also found to be effective in improving the skill learning effectiveness of students with low-level prior knowledge.
