Abstract
In this paper, a compact all-fibre modal Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MMZI) is presented that based on two notches at different location along normal single-mode fibres by CO2 laser irradiation. This novel configuration was demonstrated as a bending sensor and it offers salient advantages of simple fabrication technique of low cost.
