Abstract
A differential bi-directional composite right/left- handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) in co-planar strip (CPS) technology is presented. The three distinct advantages of the proposed CPS CRLH LWA compared to previously reported microstrip LWAs are: 1) differential excitation (lower noise and simpler co-design with differential components), 2) bi-directional radiation, and 3) high isolation ratio between co-to-cross polarizations. The transmission and radiation characteristics of the CPS CRLH LWA are theoretically presented and experimentally demonstrated.
