Abstract :
This paper presents an application of fuzzy logic to control the speed of a switched reluctance motor (SRM). Based on the analysis of the SRM´s transient response, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is developed. The FLC generates the variations of the reference current (or reference torque) of the SRM speed control, based on the speed error and its change. The results of applying the FLC are compared to those obtained by the application of a conventional PI controller. The FLC provides a better response than the PI controller
