Abstract :
With the rapid development of high-speed rail (HSR) around the world in recent years, there is a huge demand for HSR broadband mobile communications to provide passenger information services, and to support sensory data transmission and video surveillance for HSR safety and traffic control. A lot of attention has been paid to the various challenging issues on HSR broadband mobile communications, such as channel estimation and mitigation of significant Doppler frequency spread. Considering the unique characteristics of HSR radio channels, the impact of Doppler spread on inter-subcarrier interference (ICI) for OFDM based next-generation HSR broadband mobile communications is investigated in this paper. Analytical models for the received Doppler power spectrum and the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) are derived for HSR mobile communications. Simulations have been made for different radio scenarios to reveal the inter-relationship between Doppler power spectrum, Doppler spread, and the resulting SIR.
