Abstract :
Laterolog tool is most commonly used to measure the resistivity with regard to different depth of investigation. In this paper the laterolog tool is applied to detect the distance between drill bit and formation boundary in horizontal wells. Numerical methods are used to mimic the laterolog tool in the inclined or horizontal borehole. A finite element method is developed to model the tool´s response, as a result a series of geosteering charts are plotted for laterolog tool.
