Abstract :
During the fall semester of 1998, North Dakota State University (NDSU) and the University of North Dakota (UND) offered a fiber optics course for the first time using the North Dakota University System´s Interactive Video Network (ND IVN). The instructor emphasized a market-oriented relevance to the state of the art in fiber optics while teaching enough theory to support the initiation of the student to design.
