Abstract :
The project, known as the 2+2+2 Program in Manufacturing Information Systems, is sponsored by an alliance of high school districts, community colleges, one four-year university (San Jose State University), and several high-tech industrial companies in Silicon Valley. The program creates and delivers an appropriately designed curriculum to enable students of diverse educational backgrounds to enter the workforce, a community college or a university in manufacturing information systems. The program refines curricula, delivers faculty enhancement workshops, provides students with industry experiences and is establishing itself as a national model for replication.
