Abstract :
Cycloconverters are widely used for ac-to-ac power conversion. In this paper, the historical development of cycloconverters is given along with a review of applications. The operational features of cycloconverters are discussed. Newer forms of cycloconverters such as ac-ac matrix converters and high frequency ac link converters are described.
