Abstract :
This work describes the main aspects about the system design that performs the current control of high power LED for street lighting. This system is powered by a gel battery which is charged using a solar panel. In this control scheme, is achieved: (i) the operation of the solar panel on its maximum power point by a simple MPPT algorithm, and (ii) the acceptable battery voltage and current control to make the appropriated loading and unloading to not reduce its life. The main device that executes the control and command tasks is a PSoC (Programable System on-Chip). This PSoC is an embedded system that present in a single chip a high scale integration of digital and analog programmable devices. The proposed conversion system is validating by experimental results in a 30W prototype.
