  • Abstract
    This paper develops a new hierarchic definition of the notion concavity and provides an algorithm to determine the different level of concavities. To find the shape of first level concavities an active concavity model is developed. The model is based on the geometric heat differential equation, which evolves a curve in the direction of the difference between normal and tangent force, and normal force alone. To validate the theory a set of experiments is performed using groundwater and medical X-ray and MRI images
