Abstract :
A discussion on the relationship between Binomial and Chebyshev transformer together with an improvement on stepped transmission line transformer are presented. The equivalence of Binomial transformer and the Chebyshev transformer when the maximum permitted reflection coefficient approach to zero is verified by mathematical demonstration and numerical simulation. Furthermore, apart from these two traditional forms of stepped transmission line transformer, the improvement provides alternative choices in broadband matching that can better meet the practical requirements.
