Abstract :
This paper reports on the digital reconstruction and the development of a completely immersive virtual model of an ancient archaeological site from the Northwest Palace of Ashur-nasir-pal II of Assyria. This paper further details the modeling of an historically accurate ancient human character and the simulation of a 3D human (avatar) with motion control. This paper further describes the issues in animating virtual characters in an real-time immersive environment. It also reports on the implementation of an integrated virtual environment at the UB Virtual Site Museum and the role of that museum
