Abstract
This paper is a companion to ""This old digital city" (2000) one year later, experience gained, lessons learned, and future plans" in this proceedings. Based on our experience, this paper discusses the prospects for widespread use of virtual environments to recreate historic spaces in museum settings. The author also presents what she sees as challenges and potential obstacles to the development of museum exhibits using high fidelity computer graphics technology
