Abstract
Industry which has a larger proportion of GDP in region, with strong technology innovation level and high R&D expenditure, and as a pole spilling over other industries is called regional innovation leading industry. In this paper, we introduce a framework for selecting innovation leading industry by factor analysis method in the case of Tangshan City. Seven indicator indexes which are made up of index system reflecting the advantages of industrial innovation were selected, through factor analysis method to calculate the 35 major industries data in Tangshan City, and ultimately determine the factor scores of the top 10 industries as the innovation leading industries in the region. The result provides basis and reference for next regional development policy making.
