Abstract :
The control logic of a modern jet engine consists of many control loops and the design of control system must account for the uncertainties in the model. In both commercial and military jet engines, the complexity of control system results in a series of single input single output controllers. In this paper, a new approach using interval analysis is proposed for design of a robust compensator for jet engine. The proposed method is applied to synthesize the acceleration control loop of a jet engine in the presence of parametric uncertainties. The proposed method uses a necessary condition and sufficient condition for stability of interval polynomial. These conditions are used to derive a set of inequalities in terms of the compensator parameters which can be solved to obtain a robust controller. The proposed method is simple, involves less computational complexity and provides an easy method to obtain a robust compensator. The results show the efficacy of the proposed method
