Abstract :
Scattering from eccentrically stratified spheres and infinite cylinders is considered. For a dielectric slab waveguide the scattering of a guided mode froman internal cylindrical cal inhomogeneity is also treated. For the case of a spherical (cylindrical) inhomogeneity embedded inside a dielectric sphere(cylinder) the method of separation of variables is used in conjuction with translational addition theorems for spherical vector waves(cylindrical waves). On the other hand, an integral equation involving the appropriate Green´s function is employed for the problem of scattering from inhomogeneities inside a dielectric slab guide.
