Abstract
Color calibration plays an important role on applying camera arrays to those algorithms that need to fuse the images captured by different cameras. Most of the state-of-the-art calibration methods perform color calibration via a planar color checker. Its resulted color for different cameras is usually not very consistent due to the affect of environmental light. This paper proposes an omnidirectional color calibration using an illuminating ball, which can yield more consistent color for different cameras. The whole omin-directional calibration procedure is composed of the intra-camera calibration step and the inter-camera one. In each step, the brightness parameter is adjusted followed by the white balance. The process is completely automatic and the time of calibrating our circular camera array is very short. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient to improve 3D reconstruction and relighting.
