Abstract
The purposes of the study are to investigate learning effects of time-compressed speech and to provide design guidelines of time-compressed speech for e-learning environments. To achieve this goal, this study performed one investigative study and two experimental studies. The investigative study was performed to find out the standard speed of spoken Korean. The results of the two experimental study show that 1) the learning materials with time compressed speech give an opportunity to listen faster without losing the degree of understanding, 2) the materials allow students to learn repeatedly during the given time period, and 3) learning achievement can be increased at the adequate time-compression rate.
