Abstract
The paper proposed a method to optimize the color transformation from wide-gamut xvYCC to linear RGBW signals for field-sequential Color (FSC) LCD. FSC-LCD without color filters has been proposed to enhance light efficiency and color gamut. However, it suffers from an intrinsic color breakup effect. Fortunately, the effect can be reduced by cumulating image¿s gray components to white (W) channel. As conventional RGBW 4-color display using only a part of device color gamut, the proposed method allows the use of full device gamut. The transformation is not only smooth and accurate, but also minimizes the color breakup effect. A method to choose best sub-gamut also is introduced to further improve the accuracy of xvYCC-to-RGBW transformation.
