Abstract :
In this paper a novel configuration for increasing the impedance bandwidth of microstrip antennas (MSAs) is proposed. Impedance bandwidth is enhanced without increasing in antenna size. This antenna is consisting of a semicircular driven patch and another shorted semicircular parasitic patch. The proposed antenna is numerically investigated by using the electromagnetic simulator IE3D. Bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 7.6 times greater than the conventional circular MSA. The radiation pattern of the proposed antenna remains broadside over this wide bandwidth.
