Abstract :
Color rendering quality refers to a visual evaluation of an original color image and an assessment of the degree to which that image is matched in ink-jet printing. There are a number of methods to help materials¿ developers and end users to evaluate color rendering of glossy ink-jet papers. The traditional evaluation method is subjective since it relies on the individual judgment of specialists who have different perceptions of color. To reduce the amount of rework, color rendering is evaluated by CIELAB color difference scale in the industry. The standard CIELAB color difference scale is suitable for large uniform color targets, but not on images. To simulate the sensitivity function of human vision system and measure color rendering quality, a new parameter ¿EIC was proposed based on fuzzy decision. A pair comparison psychophysical experiment was carried out to study the perception of color rendering. The calculated results by the new method were consistent with psychophysical experiment, suggesting that parameter ¿EIC is appropriate for color rendering evaluation of glossy ink-jet paper.
