  • Abstract
The developments of night vision technology based on low light level imaging and infrared imaging were reviewed. Aimed at the physical characteristics that a single photon can be detected by the avalanche photodiodes, a novel imaging idea based on avalanche photodiodes arrays was introduced after analyzing the problems in imaging mechanism of the aforementioned. An all-solid state imaging system was established in order to realize the remote and ultra-sensitive detection. The requirements of fast response on military will be satisfied when the all-solid state single photon imaging system is used. At the same time, the image obtained includes not only intensity information but also distance information, that is, a 3D (angle-angle-range) image is produced.
