Abstract :
Increase of the installation amount of renewable energy based generations may cause several problems in power systems due to their intermittent electric power output. This paper proposes a new control method of Electric Vehicle (EV) for contribution to Load Frequency Control (LFC) considering only the charging process of the EVs (Smart Charging). In the proposed method, the EVs are charged slowly up to the SOC required by the EV users so that the EVs can be controlled for a longer time and frequency control by the EVs becomes more effective. Moreover, it has been made clear that in the proposed method, the amounts of communication traffic and computational load become smaller compared with these in the conventional charging method.
