Abstract :
Analytical and experimental results obtained on a low level, subsidiary resonance, ferrite limiter which combines the advantages of both YIG rods and spheres located along the axis of a coupled dielectric resonator bandpass structure are described. The YIG material provides frequency selective limiting, and the composite structure has sufficient dynamic range to protect sensitive receivers against burnout in the presence of high-level signals from extraneous sources. Operation over the 4.4 to 5.0 Ghz range has been achieved with threshold levels of +12 dbm and satisfactory operation up to 3 watts incident power.
