Abstract :
In this paper, a circular vertical patch antenna excited by probe with cross-strip above cylindrical reflector is proposed. The proposed antenna is used at base station for point-to-point communication in wireless local area network systems (WLAN). The antenna is analyzed by CST (Microwave Studio) program. The measured results of the prototype antenna operating at 2.45 GHz yields an impedance bandwidth (2:1 VSWR) of 32.60%(2.23- 3.10 GHz). The antenna has unidirectional radiation pattern with front-to-back ratio (F/B) of greater than 26 dB in E-plane and H-plane. Maximum gain is about 9.7 dBi from measurement. The half-power beamwidth is 56 degree in E-plane and 58 degree in H- plane. The cross polarization of greater than 30 dB in both planes has been obtained.
